Born in NYC,  Bernard Fowler is one of the world’s most sought-after singers.  He was a founding member of the Peech Boys, creating classic dance hits like Don’t Make Me Wait, before going on to front tour and record with Herbie Hancock.  He has since recorded and toured with countless others including Philip Glass, John Mayer, Gil Scott-Heron, Yoko Ono, Sly & Robbie, Bootsy Collins, Michael Buble and Michael Hutchence.   He has released three solo albums including Friends with Privileges, The Bura and Inside Out.

In 1985, Fowler was brought on to record backing vocals on Mick Jagger’s first solo album. This proved to be the beginning of a lasting relationship not only with Jagger, but with all the members of the Rolling Stones; he has also performed, recorded, produced and written songs on the solo albums of Charlie Watts, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood. Fowler has toured, performed, played percussion and arranged vocals with The Rolling Stones since 1988.

A tech world pioneer contributing to new products, new industries and jobs via his 644 lifetime patents and still inventing. An early-stage AI icon, Gary’s AI inventions were 15% of all the globally submitted AI patent applications at the US Patent Office in 2018.

In 2017 Gary built Hua Momona Farms and Foundation in Lahaina to serve unsheltered and food insecure families on Maui. In 2024, the Hua Momona Foundation launched the Maui Music and Food Experience to mix traditions and celebrate Maui while raising funds to feed the community since the fire. Following the Hawaiian enlightenment of ‘Imi Na‘auao, in 2026 the Hua Momona Foundation started the Lahaina Innovation and Arts Center to further sustain the community of Maui through projects and experiences blending tradition and innovation leveraging Gary’s vast network.

The RISE Maui experience mixes tradition and stewardship with active exploration of innovations from around the world to improve sustainability both on Maui and globally.

James Carpio

James (Jay) John Kamealoha Carpio, a Native Hawaiian born and raised in Wailuku, Maui, brings a lifetime of hands-on conservation and ʻāina stewardship to public service. He has worked as a hunter and guide, rancher, land manager, master fisherman and farmer, grounded in the day-to-day realities of conserving Hawaiʻi’s land, water and marine resources. Carpio holds a Bachelor of Science in agriculture and horticulture from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and is a co-founder of the Maui Nui Makai Network and The Limu Hui, two community-based conservation organizations focused on restoring nearshore ecosystems and traditional resource management. He helped revive the Maui Nui Marine Resource Council and, as chair of its Fish Committee, co-founded the Wailuku Coastal Managed Makai Area with his late mentor, kupuna Takeo Miyaguchi, helping expand community-driven marine conservation across Maui Nui.

Matthias Scheutz is the Karol Family Applied Technology Professor of computer science in the School of Engineering and the director of the Human-AI Interaction Center at Tufts University. He is a AAAI and AAAS Fellow with over 450 peer-reviewed publications in artificial intelligence, artificial life, agent-based computing, natural language understanding, cognitive modeling, robotics, human-robot interaction and foundations of cognitive science. His current research focuses on complex ethical AI-enabled robots with natural language interaction, problem-solving, and instruction-based learning capabilities in open worlds.

Rev. Andrew Wicks

Rev. Andrew J. Wicks is a pastor, educator and entrepreneur based in Connecticut. He currently serves as the Pastor of First Church of Christ, Woodbridge, CT. In 2013, he founded Incredible Days, a service learning company that provides experiential education programs for student groups to explore today’s compelling social issues including poverty, housing, environmental conservation, and racism. In 2025 he co-founded Friends of Silver Lake, an organization dedicated to creating transformational outdoor ministry in southern New England. As a noted expert in the field of youth ministry, Rev. Wicks has been a repeat presenter at Yale’s Youth Ministry Institute, the United Church of Christ General Synod, Regional Youth Events, the Northeast Association of United Church Educators, and more.

His preaching focuses on how human spirituality interacts with contemporary society and the power of individuals and communities to holistically transform the world around themselves.

Rev. Wicks holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of Connecticut and an M.B.A. from Mississippi State University. He completed his seminary coursework at Hartford Seminary and Chicago Theological Seminary.

In his free time he enjoys traveling, skiing, and carpentry. He lives in Glastonbury, Connecticut with his wife and son.

As the son of legendary science fiction producer Gene Roddenberry, whose Star Trek series changed television as well as the world, Roddenberry has followed in his father’s footsteps facilitating a world where humanity works together for the greater good.

In 2006, Roddenberry became Chief Executive Officer of Roddenberry Entertainment, a science fiction leader with a tradition of groundbreaking entertainment. Roddenberry Entertainment builds on the best of Gene Roddenberry’s work and continues to pioneer the development of a multimedia portfolio of smart and provocative science fiction that incorporates graphic novels, podcasts, television, and film projects, including the critically-acclaimed documentary Trek Nation, which details Roddenberry’s 10-year exploration of his father’s life.

Roddenberry serves as an executive producer of the Emmy-nominated Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as well as Star Trek: Lower Decks. He also serves as an executive producer of the podcast series Star Trek: Khan. Roddenberry also created the audio podcast series Mission Log, the objective of which is to analyze and explore Star Trek by journeying through each and every episode.

Over the past many years Roddenberry has been inspired to fully embrace Star Trek’s vision and invest in our future. One expression of this was the founding of The Roddenberry Foundation in 2010. The Roddenberry Foundation funds paradigm-changing solutions to critical global issues with the objective of making Star Trek’s future a reality.

Tom MacTavish

Tom joined entigenlogic® in April 2018 and contributes to their product designs and associated research in natural language understanding. Prior to joining the company, he worked for 14 years as a professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Institute of Design where he created curricula and taught graduate-level courses in interaction and behavioral design. He has 30 years of experience in artificial intelligence technologies acquired through leading Motorola Labs’ Center for Human Interaction Research and NCR Corporation’s Human Interface Technology Center. At NCR, he served as the Director of Engineering for the team recognized by IEEE with a Milestone Award in October 2019 for their contribution to the creation of Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11). Tom is listed as an inventor on 46 patents.
He holds master’s degrees in Library and Information Science from University of Michigan and in English from University of Iowa, with a bachelor’s degree in English from Central Michigan University. Throughout his career, Tom has maintained strong ties to university research and has served as a corporate liaison and advisor to The Georgia Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Media Lab), and Stanford University (CSLI).

Zach Laidlaw, an internationally accomplished culinary mavin, was raised in the small town of Burlington, Illinois. He started in the industry as a dishwasher at the young age of 13. At age 16 he started cooking and quickly soon realized his passion and creativity would be endless in this profession. With a degree in both Culinary Arts & Hospitality Restaurant Management, Zach quickly stood out with his culinary talent taking him all around the world cooking and managing. From Chicago to South Beach Miami, followed by the British Virgin Islands, onto Australia and then here in Maui. Maui is where he landed the Chef de Cuisine position at Fleetwood’s on Front St. for two years.

In 2017 he helped start up Hua Momona Farms, in Kapalua from scratch with 2
other partners. January 2019, Zach took a step out of the busy kitchen life and to focus all his attention on the Farm. He wanted to further educate himself with local agriculture, understanding the why’s and how’s of growing and maintaining self-sustainability. Zach supports our local farmers, Fisherman, Ranchers and is helping Maui become more self-sustainable one step at a time.

Currently, Chef Zach is Hua Momona Farms & Foundations Co-Founder, Executive Chef, Lead Farmer & Vice President of Experiences. He curates exquisite multi-course farm to table experiences ranging anywhere from 6-12 course tasting menus. Both a Chef & Farmer, what a force to be reckoned with. Today, Kat focuses her work on designing systems that advance equity, sustainability, and communication to strengthen community resilience.
